It took just a moment and then you were there.
In a deep breath you were born.
With a slap and a cry you made your presence known.
In but a flash childhood drew to a close.
I saw the innocence of youth just fade away.
All too soon responsibility became the word of the day.
Understanding and family became the focus.
Worry, fear and expectation became your everything.
Replaced by gray and lines.
An aged body is what's left behind.
With a strong mind and weakened eyes.
I see your life in a twinkling of an eye.
